For Folks Wanting to Test

For folks wanting to test their water or blood for PFAS, here is some helpful information. Please note that we are not affiliated with any of these initiatives, we are merely compiling information.

Current water testing initiatives:

CT DEEP (they will reach out to eligible residents who are within 500ft of a positive test, you cannot request testing)

To test your own water if you don't want to wait to be eligible for testing through the state, and/or to get a second test from an independent party, here are some options:

For blood or other tests, it is important that your physician's office knows how to order the test, so it is coded properly to allow insurance to potentially cover part or all of the cost. Here is information that might help: https://pfas-exchange.org/

If your water is positive, granular activated carbon (GAC) canisters are one option for whole-house remediation. You can also get point-of-use reverse osmosis systems for drinking water (there are many options available at Lowe's/Home Depot/Amazon/etc). Please note that typical pitcher filters likely won't remove all PFAS from your water.

Disclaimer: We cannot provide medical advice. Talk to your doctor about testing and preventative care post-PFAS exposure.
